[time-nuts] Another manual request: Rohde & Schwarz SMG?

Hi Paul,
Things change even in the same model but the R&S LCD's of this era that
I've seen have had incandescent backlights. The trouble is that if you
can still see the display with one light working no-one bothers until
both go. They are all the same age and life expectancy so multiple
failures are probable. They could be in series. Even LED's (and
resistors) fail and are more likely to be in series. If R&S list the SMG
as no longer supported, failed backlights could even be why it was
surplussed!
If all else fails you could always hard wire them while you've got the
panel apart.
Hope the flu gets better soon.

Robert.

Hi Robert, everyone,

Now that you mention it, that is something obvious to look for. A bad
flu has kept me from opening up the unit, and I had assumed that it
would be backlit by LEDs given the pictures I've seen.

There are 3 displays with 2 lights each.. would be rare but not
impossible for all 6 of them to be gone. I'll have a look inside once I
get a bit better.

Thanks for your reply,
Paul Boven.
