Not really, for example dc grounding the varicap cathode means that one
doesn't need to include a low noise, low drift reference within the OCXO
for the varicap.
However such a reference may then be required in the EFC drive circuitry.
With an analog phase lock loop driving the EFC no precision voltage
references may be necessary.
