I've repaired many "hermetically" sealed oscillators by unsoldering the
can with a torch.  It works out just fine.  You first make sure that you
can hold the can in something stationary...I use a vise.. and that you have
a good handle on the base, take the torch and apply it for a couple of
seconds, and zip it comes apart.  None the worse for the wear.
