Just downloaded the most recent version of NI-488.2 version 2.5 off the NI
website. It downloaded/unzipped/installed without any apparent issue.
The "Devices and Interfaces - Measurement & Automation Explorer shows
several different applications in the software tree, but does not recognize
either of the two HP-IB interfaces that are installed/attached:
- USB to HPIB (Agilent 82357A)
- PCI to HPIB (HP 82350)

I may be wrong, not unknown:-), but I've always believed that NI-488.2 only
 recognises NI interfaces.

Other interfaces I've used, such as those from CEC, that do claim NI
compatibility have not been recognised and NI-488.2 will even detect the CEC
software as being an alternative copy and require its removal before
proceeding with its own install.
If I remember correctly, CEC, now Measurement Computing, do claim that
their software will recognise NI interfaces and offer this as a way of
getting their interfaces and those from NI installed on the same PC, with both
then operating under Labview, but I've found it easier just to stick with NI.

Agilent's equivalent software for HP interfaces is their IO Libraries
Suite, also free to download.

regards
