Steve, If you check closely I think you'll find that the line you read as
"031001" is actually 0310D1" where the 5th character is a capital "D".
The 03 is the year and the 10 may be the month of the year. The D1 is 
the revision code. The "C" version was before maybe 2000  so you  won't
see those unless they are used as replacements and the "E" revision 
wasn't used until late 2004.
