[time-nuts] TRACOR 527E - Life Cycle

I purchased one on eBay a coupla' years back and when I received it, I
couldn't believe how clean it was (still is).  I plugged it in and
everything came up and seemed to be working.  However, the seller said there
was one card missing so I'll sell it cheap (about 2 c notes) so I bought it.
Now I've just gotta' find that card!  Since this conversation started I have
taken a greater interest in it (it was priority #46 or was that #463) and
have obtained the manual for it and the 527A from the website shown on the
time-nut emails that have been passing across my screen.  Now, what priority
can I assign to its revitalization?

That's nothing, HP, Sorry Agilent, are still selling the 432A power meter.
It was first sold in 1969. 41 years and counting! Price has gone from $495
to over $12000. The meter uses a DC bridge balancing technique that allows
for direct comparison using high accuracy DC meters. It's therefore used as
a transfer standard from NIST's microbolometers to other meters.

As far as I can see, there were very few real changes in the 527 from it's
birth through the final model. I'm amazed they still could get enough 1960's
vintage parts to keep building the same design 30 years later.
