Achim,

Don’t re-invent the wheel.  Google James Miller 10 MHz GPS.  Very similar ckts are by Talbot and Bozic.  The basic idea is to divide the 10 MHz to 10 KHz and then use a phase detector.  All will work well.  It comes down to personal choice. If you’re into complexity the Brooks Shera solution will make you absolutely joyful.  

What Magnus proposes would work eventually but his idea violates the KISS principle big time.  It’s nothing personal but one wants to avoid overkill if at all possible.  Remember that stealing from one is plagiarism, stealing from many is research.<G>
