Many thanks for the information, but if you isolate the above from  the 
comments about TV synchronisation it can be seen that the items  mentioned are 
general examples of off air frequency standards and not  particularly 
specific to the TV issue as such.
 
The Advance OFS1, for example, was widely used as a general purpose off air 
 standard and I'm sure the 5090 was intended to be similar.
