From a noise and long term stability standpoint, it would not be better than the last device in the chain, and the 78xx series is not great.
But you would gain additional ripple and line variation rejection, so if that's what you need to do, it may help.

How well would a pair of cascaded 3 terminal regulators do - say a 7815
feeding a 7812.
How sensitive are each of a Thunderbolt's 3 supplies to noise?
