Another nifty product from 3M is their cold shrink tubing.  It is a rubber tube stretched over a peel-able spiral core.  You insert the tube over the cable/connector and peel out the core.  The rubber shrinks down over the cable and forms a tight seal.  It is typically used on buried cables.  I use it to repair old printer platens like in the HP9100 calculator and Tektronix TDR thermal printers that have turned into goo.
