You sort of have to know what you are looking at. The newer boards are based on an iLotus(?) chip set. The older boards are Motorola parts. Some of them are approaching 20 years old. The technology behind this stuff has improved over the years. Somebody else on the list may have a magic decoder ring / pictures to help figuring out the progression of parts over the years.
