I believe that if you *do* find the HP software, it will only run on some odd combination of old OS and (maybe) old hardware.
Since all the internals are accessible via SCPI commands, a terminal program hooked to the serial port and a bit of typing will show you what I believe you are looking for.

On page 3-3 it suggests that simply typing:
:SYSTEM:STATUS?
Will get you the info you are looking for. A quick read of the manual suggests that the HP software simply sends that string over and over again. Yes, it was a quick read and I could easily have missed something.
