[time-nuts] Long Duration elapsed time display

Have a project underway that includes a long duration elapsed time 
display.  Would need to count to T+ 999 hours, 59 Minutes, 59 seconds.

Ideas on how to accomplish this?  LED preferred, can be also use an LCD 
computer monitor as well.
