Most likely, that just means that your counter is set to Talk Only mode.  It
won't respond to commands like *IDN? in that mode... but on the other hand,
you *have* to use talk-only mode with TimeLab if you don't have a counter
model that it knows how to address like the 5370B.

That should be OK.  It's possible that it's failing to parse the exact data
format coming back from the counter.  Can you cut and paste some of the
traffic out of the "Monitor" menu so I can take a look at what it's sending
