Hi

The only case I can see for the short pins in our use would be when fumble fingered Bob unplugs the cable without thinking much. Unfortunately this is not an uncommon occurrence (there is hard evidence supporting this claim :). From what we have figured out so far on the circuits, there is not a *damage* issue in hot plugging with the longer pins on the connector. There may be a *boot* issue when you do so. Put another way, you won’t kill it with longer pins, but you probably have to power cycle it after you play with a long pin cable.
