There are two general approaches to that problem area.
One is to make the data collection program smart enough to make the
graphs/pictures that you want to put on the web.
The other is to make the data collection program write out the raw data in a
clean format so that you can post process it to make graphs/whatever. I like
gnuplot.
If your target is the screen, your users are often geeks and you are often
trying to cram lots of data into limited real estate. If your target is the
web, you often want to add an extra layer of text to explain things to
non-wizards.
